Student Ranks and Safety Rules
The “Time in Rank” is to give a student an idea of how long they could be in that specific rank, which depends on their dedication and practice. The term Mudansha means “person without rank” the time for each rank is idle when a student attains the skills and knowledge for said kyu rank.

White belt Unranked 3 months
Yellow Belt Shichikyu - 7th 3 - 4 months
Green Belt Rokyu - 6th 5 - 6 months
Blue Belt Gokyu - 5th 7 - 8 months
Purple Belt Yonkyu - 4th 8 - 10 months
Brown Belt Sankyu - 3rd 12 months
Brown Belt Nikyu - 2nd 12 months
Brown Belt Ikkyu - 1st 12 months
The Following rules will be fixed to this dojo (school), and will provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for everyone involved.
1. No horseplay.
2. Walk, don’t run, unless told otherwise.
3. If you think you have been injured tell your sensei immediately.
4. All jewelry and dress belts must be removed, and nothing in the pockets.
5. All nails should be kept short and clean, unless they are taped.
6. Clothing and personal hygiene should be as clean as possible when working out.
7. Appropriate language (PG) in the Dojo is desired.
Taking care of the Uniform
The uniform and the belt
Before a new student tests for yellow belt (7th kyu), they are allowed to wear lose comfortable clothing when working out until they request a uniform (gi) online. 7th to 1st kyu must wear a white judo uniform that must be a single weight. If a t-shirt is worn under the uniform and it has graphics, then the graphics must be PG appropriate.
Be sure that your uniform is in good condition and is taken care of. Don’t wash your belt, if you have to clean it, use a washcloth. Taken with care, your uniform could last you several years assuming the student doesn't grow out of it.
